WORLD CAT FEDERATION

As always, this meeting started on Friday with a seminar in the Conference Room of RASV Centre, Melbourne Showgrounds. There were many visitors in the seminar and it was held – of course – in English. The seminar was opened by the president
of the WCC, Mrs Pam DelaBar, and the vice-president of the WCC, Mrs Cheryle U´Ren.
Besides the presentation of the participating organizations, several items were on the agenda, for example care and health
of breeding cats, presentation of the Australian Mist, presentation of the best cats by their breeder and owner, Australian legislation concerning cats. Besides information about development and actual news in the respective organizations, the current possibilities, purpose and limits of artificial insemination were discussed. Further principal subjects were the judges lists and training, breed standards, protection of cattery names, recognition procedure for new breeds and colours,
general faults, animal protection and national local problems.

On Saturday and Sunday the cat show with more than 650 inscribed cats was organized.
On Monday the WCC meeting took place.

This year new elections were not on the agenda. It was decided unanimously that more advertisement for the World Cat Congress should be made.
The Internet pages will expanded:

• more information for the welfare of animals,
• tips for buying kittens from responsible breeders,
• information about import and export,
• breeding information,
• descriptions about exhibitions, which explain typical procedures that the differences between the various organizations will become clearer,
• page for children,
• links to EC regulations,
• internal area for WCC members.

To implement the idea of the WCC, a lot of work and understanding between the organizations will be necessary.
All agreed upon one subject: The welfare of cats is and shall always be of utmost importance.
